Lumarii helps you organise your tasks in a simple, calm, visually polished way without turning productivity into a whole system you have to manage. People who want to stay organised but find traditional productivity apps cluttered, overwhelming, or overly complicated. A lot of to-do apps make managing your tasks feel like another task. Aurora gives you a cleaner, calmer place to keep track of what needs doing and focus on what matters.
Lumarii exists because somewhere along the way, productivity apps started making me feel less productive. I’ve tried the complicated systems. Categories, priorities, tags, streaks, dashboards and endless features designed to organise every part of your life. Sometimes I just want to write down what I need to do. That’s it. 😂 That frustration is where Lumarii started. I wanted somewhere I could quickly put the things floating around in my head, see what needed my attention, and get on with doing them. But building something simple turned out to be surprisingly difficult. When you’re building an app, there’s a constant temptation to add more. I kept thinking of features Lumarii could have, and every time I added too much, I realised I was slowly building the exact kind of productivity app I wanted to get away from. I wasn’t struggling for ideas. I was struggling to decide which ideas actually belonged. Eventually something clicked. I stopped asking “What else could I add?” and started asking “Does this actually make Lumarii better at the one thing it’s supposed to do?” That completely changed how I built it. Removing something became just as valuable as adding something. I started caring more about the smaller details instead. How quickly can you add a task? Does the screen feel overwhelming? Is it obvious what needs your attention? Can something feel satisfying without demanding more of you? Lumarii isn’t trying to reinvent productivity or turn your life into a game. It’s a calm, simple place for the things you need to do. Building it has taught me that simplicity isn’t the absence of ideas. Sometimes it’s having loads of ideas and deliberately choosing not to use them. Open it. See what matters. Add what you need. Get on with your day. That’s Lumarii. ✨

Congrats on your third! Three in three days. The bit where you realised you were slowly building the exact kind of productivity app you wanted to get away from. I read that twice! I'd love to learn how you actually made those calls. You said removing ended up being as valuable as adding, so was there something you'd already built that you took back out?
Yeah, absolutely. The biggest one was when I started adding more and more ways for the app to tell you how “productive” you were being. On paper they all sounded useful, but together they started making the app feel like it was constantly judging you 😂 That was the point where I realised I was recreating exactly what frustrated me about other productivity apps. I didn’t want opening a to-do list to make you feel behind before you’d even started. So I started asking a different question when looking at features: does this actually help someone get something out of their head and move on with their day, or does it just give them another thing to maintain? A few things either disappeared or got massively simplified because of that. It was surprisingly difficult because removing something you’ve already spent time building feels wrong at first. But I’m learning that building more isn’t always the same as making the app better. I think Lumarii is becoming a better app because I’ve got much more comfortable deleting my own work 😂
